The problem of drought, limited water resources and pest infestation is a major problem for sugarcane seedling growth. The researcher develop an innovative Bio-Moisture-Nutrient (ฺBMN) Absorbing Belt for Promoting the Sugarcane Seedlings Growth from local waste; Bagasse and Fish Scales (Cirrhinus Microlepis) to maintain soil moisture, provide plant nutrients and prevent pest. The innovation can solve the problems in water management and agriculture that align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Thailand’s Bio-Circular-Green agriculture model.
The result found that the BMN absorbing belt maintain soil moisture before the permanent wilting point 2 times better from control. The belt helping to reduce water usage 50% and save production costs 52.93% from traditional cultivation. For the efficiency of insect protection against pests was 93.12 % decrease in pests compared to the control group. However, the production cost of BMN absorbing belt was low price about 0.06 USD per piece when calculated from 200 pieces production or more.
This innovation was developed to improve biochemical properties of biochar as adsorbent called Magnetic Fluid Biochar (MFB) for removal of heavy metal, microplastics and dyes from wastewater. MFB can absorb more than 83% of all types microplastics, 95% of all heavy metals and 90% of all dyes. The result of water treatment in natural water, found that MFB can absorb contaminants more than 90%, which the pH, TSS, TDS and turbidity had been improved up to Surface Water Quality Standards. Therefore, MFB is a high absorbent of contaminants from wastewater with low price 0.02 $/g/L of wastewater. It is an eco-friendly absorbent due to the best synthesized method. It can be reused up to 22 times and recycled to supercapacitor.
Mosquitoes of genus Aedes, are vectors, or transmitters, of infectious disease. One of the traditional method to control the mosquitos’ larvae is Temephos or Abate which can cause highly polluted on the water body with the higher recommendation dose (2-5 g/m2). Thus, this research aims to produce Eggicide from plants which are Balm mint leaf and Morning glory stem to control the mosquito population at the egg stage along with Water Quality Improvement. The result shown that Eggicide powder inhibit the mosquito’s eggshell decay, embryolysis stage, remove Carbamate insecticide in water up to 92 % as well as user friendly.
